How One Cup of Hot Tea In the Morning Changed my Whole Routine

It’s easy to wake up, check social media, brew a pot of coffee, and start the day with a less than stellar beginning.

But then I remembered how I used to wake up with such energy and excitement during my last year of high school, when I was staying with my grandparents. It made me think back, What did I use to do differently back then?

That year was really big for me because I listened to a lot of personal development tapes, and I was really excited about clean eating. I remembered that in the morning I always drank hot tea and did yoga: So I changed my routine.

 

Now, as soon as I wake up, I splash a little cold water on my face, feed the cat, and immediately start boiling hot water for tea. As the water boils I lay out my yoga mat. As the tea steeps I do a very fast 10 minute yoga stretch routine, and by then my tea is ready. I can sit at the computer and type a blog post, sip slowly and start the day off on a better foot.
