Minimalist makeup storage

A few weeks ago, I went through all of my makeup and offered my sister most the makeup I had. I love the idea of wearing makeup but often I was overwhelmed by all of the choices, the colors and the brushes.
I didn’t have too much to start with, but I quickly realized I would be a lot more likely to spend time putting on makeup if I only had a couple eye shadow colors instead of five, one mascara instead Of three colors, and finally got rid of the blush that I had bought only to discover the color was completely wrong and make my face looked bruised.
When I gave my excess items, all of the sudden I loved the fact that I only had a couple basic things, and my little collection of 7 or so bright lipsticks: my favorite beauty item ever.
Without all of the extra items in my makeup box, I could finally highlight the few pieces I really loved.

I had this tiny little wooden drawer shelf I painted a whole back and it sat on my window sill with a few random items in it. With it being the high of a hairbrush, it never held anything important to me and often went unnoticed.

After my reduction of makeup, it all fit… Leaving the powders on top.
Leaving my old makeup box to simply hold my empty travel makeup pouch, and my ONLY two nail polishes.

I love this tiny little makeup collection so much more than all the pieces I used to dread looking through, plus my sister now can expand her makeup collection!
