I also wanted to prove to myself that I could take on the challenge of making one of the wedding cakes for a my uncle and aunts celebration this august. (They are a little crazy, and I can’t even imagine what we will come up with. We’ve thrown around ideas involving bacon, matcha powder, and crazy fruit. Not in the same cake, although maybe…)
In this cake two bottom layers of dark chocolate espresso cake, sandwiched between a dense layer of cappuccino buttercream.
Then atop sits two browned butter vanilla cake layers, sandwiched between a layer of jam and a layer of fresh strawberries drizzled in dark ganache.
The bottom cake layers are covered in dark chocolate ganache, and the top layer in a sort of milky hot chocolate buttercream, then studded with chocolate covered strawberries, and pipped around the edges with vanilla cream.
Do you have a sugar hangover just from hearing this description? (I think I do)
